Sardinia, Unexpected
Barbagia is a land of ancient traditions, the realm of Janas, where carnival retains its subversive character, singing connects human beings and deities, and wine is red and full-bodied. It is also a land of experimentation, contemporary art, electronic music, digital manufacturing, design, and innovation. Barbagia is the pulsating heart of Sardinia, where past, present, and future collide, unleashing primordial energies.
The Barbagia Biennial is a journey through seven villages in Barbagia, discovering the roots of Sardinian culture and the paths that connect it to global contemporaneity.
During the 2023-2024 biennium, visual arts, music, theater, dance, and the art of living take center stage in a program of events designed for communities and open to travelers seeking moments to share, looking for fun and wanting to discover the profound soul of Barbagia.
Fonni, Identity up high
Mamoiada, A song to remember
Oliena, Under the sign of Dionysus
Orani, The Pergola Village
Orgosolo, The Murals and the Bread
Orotelli, The Honey of Poets
Ottana, The Theater of the World
